Have I posted the cat...?
It may seem that I've given up on my little corner of the blogosphere, but I prefer to think of it as a bit of a rest. I'm not done with blogging. I've just been done with it for right now.
That said, I may wake up tomorrow refreshed and ready to blog, blog again... so, we shall see.

Wild Card Supreme
Ew.
Am I the only one who thinks that, I dunno, some judicial experience might be a helpful pre-requisite to sitting on the Supreme Court?
Anyone want to mention this to W.?
Afterthought: My beloved Louis Brandeis never sat on the bench before being named an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. I would counter, however, that "the people's lawyer" was probably the best known legal advocate in the United States at the time of his appointment; his positions on the hot button issues were well known.
William Renquist was also never a judge. But (and my defenses for him are few and far between, but...) he was a renowned constitutional scholar with a long standing record in the Office of the Attorney General.
Harriet Miers? No written record. No docmented constitutional scholarship. As a guest on Charlie Rose last night said, the Supreme Court is not a "learn on the job" kind of gig. Why does the President believe that because he "knows her heart" that she is the appropriate person to shape law and society? What is this, Supreme Court selection based on principles espoused by the Care Bears?
